Charles to be appointed to 'One Country One Law' task force?
Former governor of the Northern Province - Ms. P.S.M. Charles is to be appointed to the newly established 'One Country One Law' Presidential Task Force, to represent the Tamil masses, reports say.
The decision to appoint Ms. Charles to the task force comes just several days after the Parliamentary Council agreed to appoint her as a member to the Election Commission.
The establishment of the task force led to much controversy after Gotabaya Rajapaksa decided to appoint Ven. Galagoda Aththe Gnanasara Thera (a hardline Buddhist monk known for his anti-Muslim stance) as the Chairman.
The task force drew further scrutiny due to lack of representation from the minority Tamils, youth and women.
