Woman’s body found in bag belongs to money lender; 2 suspects missing
More information has come to light regarding the body of a woman in a suitcase in the Sapugaskanda area.
According to the police, the woman had gone with another woman and a man in a three wheeler to redeem some pawned gold jewelry, but had later gone missing after she had left with the other woman in a three-wheeler.
Her husband had lodged a complaint with the police on November 28th regarding the woman’s disappearance.
Police investigations have confirmed that the missing woman was traveling in the three wheeler with another woman and her brother, a resident of Summit.
The Police said that the other woman and her brother are currently missing and an operation is currently underway to locate them.
It is said that the dead woman had made a living by lending money on interest.
The police had identified the body of the woman who had been killed, stuffed into a suitcase and dumped in a garbage dump on Mabima Road, Sapugaskanda yesterday, as that of 45-year-old resident of Maligawatte, Mohammad Shafi Fathima Munthas.
The woman’s husband A.M. Amalolla and her two children had identified the body yesterday afternoon at the Ragama Hospital mortuary.
Her husband had lodged a complaint with the Bluemandhal Police stating that his wife, who was residing at the Maligawatta National Housing Scheme, had been missing since the 28th.
Police investigations revealed that the woman had travelled in a three wheeler with another woman. However, the motive for the killing and who had committed the crime and stuffed the woman’s body in the suitcase and dumped it at the garbage site has not been revealed so far.
The body of the woman who had been killed mysteriously and her body stuffed into a suitcase and dumped in a dumpster had been found by the police on Thursday (04) afternoon.
Police have asked for help from nearby police stations to identify the dead woman and the Bluemandhal Police have notified of a complaint.
