The place Buddhist relics found not the place Sinhalese lived! Earlier Buddhism Tamils’ cultural symbol- Pushparatnam

Jaffna University archaeological professor P.Pushparatnam stated that if there are Buddhist relics found in Veddukunari Mountain, that doesn’t mean Sinhalese lived there.Such interpretation is very wrong.

Recently the director of archaeological department has said that on Veddukunari Mountain there are only the ruins of Buddhist Vihare.

In the earliest times, Buddhism was found Tamils’ cultural symbol . Same like that Hinduism too was found. Hence if Buddhist relics are found in Vanni area, it is a wrong idea that Sinhalese people had lived there.

Because this Buddhism had spread in many countries where many languages were spoken. From this we can come to the point that in this area of Veddukunari Mountain, the Tamil people lived then, time by time they had changed into Hindu religion.

Therefore, with Buddhist symbols alone, saying that there had been Sinhalese had lived in the area is an unsuitable and contrary to archaeological fact. And this is not only my view but also of many learned and historical researchers’ view too.
