Govt. agrees to give settle teachers' salary anomalies at one go

Minister of Finance - Basil Rajapaksa has agreed to pay 1/3 of the salary anomalies to teachers and principals at once, instead of the initial method to pay it in three instances.

This had taken place during a discussion held under the patronage of Prime Minister Mahinda Rajapaksa at the Parliamentary complex today (10).

Speaking to media after the discussion, General Secretary of the Ceylon Teachers' Union - Joseph Stalin said that they will continue the struggle until the entire Subodhini Committee recommendations have been received.

"It has been decided to grant our main request... However, we can only say we actually received it after the Budget. Until then, these are just promises," he said.
