In Jaffna- Manipay – Ponnalai road renovation project financial fraudulence? Relevant authorities in deep sleep- People cheated?

Many roads are being renovated as carpetroads in Jaffna district now. In this sense, Jaffna-Ponnalai-Karainagar roadthat was neglected for many years, is also being renovated now.

People were happy to hear whenthe so called Road’s renovation works started, but as the works came to RoobavStreet, people got agitated.

This project is scheduled to becarried out through Jaffna,Nallur, Sandilipay and Chankanai Pradeshiya sabaareas . From Manipay junction up to Chankanai the works started and have beenproceeding on. In some places all the primary works were finished and thecarpeting work only is being left.

But the important default inthis work is the road was not expanded and culverts were left unattended. Theculverts in this road are many in number and they are being of many years oldstructures. In most of the places the culverts were unattended and even carpetwork was also done on those unattended culverts.Those culverts were very ageold and though they seem to be in rotten state, no attention has not been takento renovate.

People made protestations overthis matter and divisional councilors were called upon and showed themthese inadequacies. But divisional councilors had discussions with therelevant engineers of the project and ended up the queries of theproblem.

Now it is learnt thatthe North peninsula development committee president Mr.Angajan Ramanathan isbeing behind all these irregularities.

This man Angajan Ramanathan hasalready known as a giant fraudulent person in the government. His work is thisdefaulted project to be completed. From this it is being said by people hemight have done many millions of culvert renovation money.
