300 rice containers stuck at port!
Spokesman for Essential Commodities Importers - Nihal Seneviratnesays that around 300 rice containers are stuck at the Port, unable to be released.
He says that the containers can be released if they are given dollars.
It is reported that Trade minister - Bandula Gunawardena has promised the collective that dollars will be released today (28) to release the containers.
Meanwhile, Minister Gunawardena has said that the price of rice has been increased by Rs. 05 after portraying an artificial shortage.
He said that it is the consumer who will have to bear the brunt of this artificial shortage.
