Kumar Dharmasena named Umpire of the year

Kumar Dharmasena was voted as Umpire of the Year by international captains and ICC Match Referees, winning the David Shepherd Trophy for the second time.

Meanwhile, India’s Virat Kohli bagged all three ICC Top Awards – the Sir Garfield Sobers Trophy for ICC Cricketer of the Year, the ICC Men’s Test Player of the Year and the ICC ODI Player of the Year – for his performances in 2018.

In addition, the Indian skipper was also named the captain of the ICC Test Team and the ODI Team of 2018.

Opener Dimuth Karunaratne was included in the ICC Test Team of the Year however no Sri Lankans were named in the 2018 ICC ODI team which was dominated by Indian and English players.

New Zealand skipper Kane Williamson was handed the ICC Spirit of Cricket Award for 2018 while India’s Rishab Pant was named the ICC Men’s Emerging Cricketer of the Year 2018.

Australia opener Aaron Finch won the ICC Men’s T20I Performance of the Year award for the second time after his world record 172 against Zimbabwe in Harare last July.

The recipients of the 2018 International Cricket Council Awards were announced by the ICC earlier today.
