Trains operating between A’pura and Omanthai temporarily halted
Trains operating between Anuradhapura and Omanthai will be halted for five months, Sri Lanka Railways announced.
This part of the Northern Line is suspended for maintenance work on the railway track, the General Manager of Railways, Dhammika Jayasundara explained.
The railway department expects to reduce the travel time between Anuradhapura and Omanthai by approximately 40 minutes through these renovations.
Accordingly, trains will operate only up to Anuradhapura railway station from Colombo and the trains departing Jaffna will stop at Kilinochchi.
Meanwhile, a bus service is planned to be operated from Anuradhapura to Jaffna, the Railways General Manager added.
