Douglas owes nearly 10 million in power bills!
EPDP Leader and Fisheries Minister Douglas Devananda has accumulated Rs. 9.7 million in unpaid electricity bills, but his electricity connection has so far not been disconnected, the CEB Joint Unions Convenor Ranjan Jayalal revealed.
Accordingly, the minister owes the CEB Rs. 9,736,677.
Jayalal revealed that the unpaid bills are for his EPDP office on Stanley Road, Jaffna.
He also said that after exposing Minister Keheliya Rambukwella's unpaid electricity bills of Rs.12.5 million, investigations had been launched and added that he was prepared to reveal the names of several other ministers and MPs who had failed to pay their electricity bills.
He emphasized that the CEB officials who inspect and disclose information regarding electricity bills have been subjected to various pressures and that it is up to the trade unions to investigate all these raids.
