Mt. Lavinia’s takes to the streets

Residents of Mount Lavinia staged a silent protest tonight (17) by lighting torches and candles against the fuel and gas shortages, and rising commodity prices in the country.

A group of 60 people including Rev. Fr. Shakthivel participated in this protests.

Others who also participated in the event complained that they have been experiencing gas and fuel shortages for a long period of time, and is protesting as the Government is taking no steps to resolve this issue.

Several other protests were also held in Kohuwala, Inginimitiya, Nikarawetiya and Kalutara, today (17).
