Cup of milk tea to become Rs. 100/-

The All Ceylon Restaurant Owners’ Association states that the price of a cup of milk tea will have to be increased to Rs. 100.

The president of the association, Asela Sampath stated that the supply of milk tea in some restaurants will also have to be suspended due to the current situation.

Meanwhile, State Minister of Livestock D.B. Herath stated that no approval has been given to increase the price of local milk powder.

However, the Minister said that the relevant departments have been instructed to take necessary steps to increase the production of local milk powder.

Meanwhile, in an inquiry made by News First, State Minister of Consumer Protection Lasantha Alagiyawanna stated that if the price of imported milk powder has been increased unfairly, the Ministry will intervene to ensure justice for the consumers.

The Milk Powder Importers Association took steps yesterday (19) to increase the price of a 400g packet of imported milk powder by Rs. 250.

Accordingly, the new price of a 400g packet of milk powder is Rs. 790.
