CID officer among those who obtained bribes from Dematagoda Ruwan!
It is reported that a CID officer is also among the group that had obtained Rs. 15 million from large scale drug trafficker Dematagoda Ruwan, by promising to get him bail.
Ruwan is in custody over his inability to prove how he had earned his millions worth of assets.
It is reported that an officer of a division under the DIG of the CID has also been involved in obtaining the Rs. 15 million given by Dematagoda Ruwan.
Two persons had been involved in obtaining Rs. 15 million from Dematagoda Ruwan’s son promising to get bail for Ruwan, and one of them is a person said to be the Coordinating Secretary to the Public Security Minister.
Sri Lanka Mirror learns that he is a person known as Eric, a resident of Wellampitiya.
The other was posing as a close associate of a senior official of the Housing Development Authority, CID sources said.
The CID had obtained a statement from Dematagoda Ruwan’s son regarding this issue. Accordingly, he had told the CID that this group had obtained money from him on four occasions promising to get bail for his father.
While a statement had been obtained from Ruwan’s son, the Commission to Investigate Allegations of Bribery or Corruption has also been handed over the investigation.
According to information available at present, this CID officer has also been among the group that had gone to obtain Rs. 5 million out of the Rs. 15 million at a luxury hotel complex in the Battaramulla area.
The balance money had been obtained by a person claiming to be closely associated with a minister.
Meanwhile, when the investigations had been handed over to the Bribery Commission, a very high ranking official of the country is said to have entrusted the investigations back to the CID.
