Minister Prasanna’s office rent over 210 million
The Ministry of Industry has decided to obtain Cabinet approval to continue the State Ministry of Rural Industrial Promotion at the World Trade Center and to remove the State Ministry of Batik, Handlooms, Textiles and Garments from it, it is reported.
The State Ministry of Rural Industrial Promotion is located on the Seventh and Thirty-sixth floors of the World Trade Center.
Although an attempt was made to find another building on the instructions of the Minister in charge of the subject, Prasanna Ranaweera, only one person had submitted a tender.
Meanwhile, from April 01 this year to December 31 this year, Rs. 52 million will be paid as rent, Rs. 71 million for next year, Rs. 75 million for 2024 and Rs. 19 million is scheduled to be paid until March 31, 2025.
Dayasiri Jayasekara, Minister of State for Batik Handloom Textiles and Local Apparel Products maintains his office on the 27th floor of the West Tower of the World Trade Center.
The state ministry staff conducts their operations in a building belonging to the Ministry of Industries, but there is insufficient space there.
Therefore, it is planned to establish the State Ministry at No. 58, Dharmapala Mawatha, Colombo 7.
The owner of this four storied building is Mrs. Geetha Dangalle.
The state ministry has planned to rent this building for the next three years and its monthly rental is Rs. 2.6 million.
