Namal also installs VPN amid social media block
Digital Minister Namal Rajapaksa has urged authorities to reconsider the decision to ban social media in Sri Lanka.
In a Tweet, he had said, “I will never condone the blocking of social media. The availability of VPN, just like I’m using now, makes such bans completely useless. I urge the authorities to think more progressively and reconsider this decision”
Earlier today, Telecommunications Regulatory Commission of Sri Lanka (TRCSL) confirmed that social media has been blocked following a request from the Ministry of Defence.
Hours later, Chairman of the Information and Communication Technology Agency (ICTA) - Oshada Senanayake also resigned from his post.
