Security of key places in Colombo handed over to Deshabandu!
Senior DIG in charge of the Western Province Deshabandu Tennakoon has been given the responsibility of providing security to the President's House, Presidential Secretariat, Temple Trees, Parliament Complex and the Madiwela MP Housing Scheme.
DIGs Sarath Kumara, Kithsiri Aponso and Sampath Kumara of the Kalutara District have been appointed to assist him. These responsibilities were entrusted to him at a meeting held at the Ministry of Public Security yesterday (06).
The IGP had issued a written notification to Senior DIG Deshabandu Tennakoon entrusting him with the responsibilities of providing security, law and order and managing the public in all the above five institutions. Two other senior DIGs, Priyantha Wijesuriya and Ajith Rohana, were appointed to assist him.
However, Deshabandu Tennakoon had requested the IGP to appoint two DIGs to replace the two officers who hold the same posts.
Meanwhile, one of the Senior DIGs had written to the IGP previously requesting that a DIG be appointed to assist the Senior DIG.
