Ranil calls on the youth to support the struggle!

Former Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe has called on the youth community to support the struggle being waged by youth groups and social media activists for a change in the existing political system.

The former Prime Minister has said this when a group of youths met him today (10) and expressed their views regarding the youth struggle.

The former Prime Minister had earlier called for only peaceful protests and satyagrahas.

Accordingly, such protests were held in Colombo and Matara.

However, the UNP leadership is being pressured by the youth groups of the party to actively participate in the youth struggle that has begun across the country.

Accordingly, former Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe has instructed the youth activists of the party to support the youth struggle peacefully along with the Deputy Leader of the party Ruwan Wijewardena and to seek the party's support for that.

However, there has been no official support from recognized political parties for this youth struggle.

He had earlier said in Parliament that this young awakening was something he had never seen in his life.
