Will show the majority next week: Kiriella
SJB MP and Chief Opposition Whip Lakshman Kiriella told a press conference that his party will show a majority in Parliament next week.
“Everyone will be able to see that we command a majority next week and I will not reveal how we are going to do it as of now,” he added.
“President should resign from his post and then constitutional reforms should follow to ensure checks and balances among the pillars of the government,” he added.
Asked why SJB MP Kumara Welgama is going on a different path, he said Mr. Welgama is still with the SJB though he has said he will not sign the no confidence motion against the government.
“Mr. Welgama will fall I line with the SJB at the end of the day,” he said.
SJB MP Mujibur Rahman who also participated in the press conference said his party will also push for an impeachment against the President.
“We have not given it up,” he said.
