Sheila Dikshit: We will win all 7 seats in Delhi
The Congress has started its grip on the elections in 2019 and is working hard on strengthening its workers by organising a workers' conference at the district level. This will be the first time that the former Delhi chief minister Sheila Dikshit has become the Congress state president and will address workers ahead of polls.
Sunday's conference saw several former legislators. As Sheila Dikshit was busy in reviving the Congress in the national capital, the programme was prepared after the congressional elections in 2019.
In the conference Harun Yusuf, the working president of Congress party said, "They all have welcomed Sheila Dikshit and have a chance to feel proud as she came to Chandni Chowk. To strengthen Rahul Gandhi's, we have to win all the seven seats. The BJP and the APP are alike as both of them have same false slogans. The Delhi chief minister has also made many false promises, and did nothing about them."
"Sheila ji has been working for development and people of the national capital want development and improvement here. We all know that Chandni Chowk is counted as 'small India'. There are many people who say that they will support the Congress only if they give all seven seats. After the arrival of Sheilaji in the party, it is now a challenge for the people who do politics on religion," Yusuf was quoted as saying.
Meanwhile, Sheila said in the conference, "There is a confidence among the Congress party workers that has built up again. For the Lok Sabha elections you will have to decide what kind of government you want. So vote and bring victory for the Congress party. Get seven seats for the party. The people of the national capital want the Congress in power."
"Congress did not make any false promise to the people. We came to you because you voted for us. Did the demonetisation benefit anyone? People did not even get what is the GST for. And the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) does not even work. So Delhi's future depends on you to whom you vote. I have never seen such a dirty national capital," she added.
Dikshit on Sunday accused the BJP and the AAP of reneging on promises made to the people of the city and said her party would win all the Lok Sabha seats in the national capital in the upcoming polls.
"People still remember the development Congress governments brought to the city," Dikshit, a three-time chief minister of Delhi, said and added that the ruling AAP does not know how to work. "They voted for the BJP and the AAP in previous elections but got lies and hollow promises in return," she alleged.
Accusing the AAP of making tall claims instead of working for the people, she asked people not to vote for it in the Lok Sabha elections. The Lok Sabha polls are very important, do not vote for a party that tells lies and makes promises only, she said. She asserted that the Congress was on the rebound in Delhi and people wanted it to form the next government at the Centre.
Dikshit attacked Modi government, saying its decisions like the Goods and Services Tax and demonetisation have had a negative impact on people.
