Payment for paper marking & exam duty yet to be made -Unions
The Ceylon Teachers’ Service Union charges that teachers who engaged in supervision and paper marking during the 2020-2021 examinations are yet to be paid.
The Union said teachers who engaged in the 2020 Ordinary Level Examination, 2021 Grade 5 Scholarship and 2021 GCE Advanced Level Examination duties are yet to be compensated.
Accordingly, a letter in this regard has been directed by the Union to the Secretary of the Ministry of Education calling for immediate steps to be taken to provide the due payments within an acceptable timeframe.
Meanwhile, the Union in its letter cited that steps must be taken to increase the payments granted for examination duty considering the rising cost of living including food, and transportation costs.
The Ceylon Teachers’ Service Union claimed failure to do so could result in teachers refraining from engaging in such duty in future.
