Non-essential state sector workers to stay home tomorrow

Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe says non-essential state sector workers have been informed not to report to work tomorrow (20).

The Premier speaking in Parliament this morning said the decision was reached due to the shortage of fuel in the country.

The PM also confirmed that necessary petrol and diesel stocks required until mid-June have been procured.

Premier Wickremesinghe said the distribution of fuel stocks will begin shortly.

However he claimed that he cannot guarantee that queues will be entirely reduced.
