Hydro power generation increased to 55% from today!
Due to the heavy rains experienced in the reservoir areas generating hydro power, the hydro power generation capacity has increased to 55%, said the Assistant General Manager (Generation) of the Ceylon Electricity Board Andrew Navamuni.
He said that if further rains are received in these areas, the hydro power generation capacity could be increased to 70%.
Accordingly, the power cuts could be minimized, he said.
However, he said that during the GCE O/L Examination period from May 23 to 30th the government and PUCSL have requested the CEB not to impose night time power cuts.
