Brainless Group of SLPP power crazy parliamentarians clamoring for ministerial positions!
A fierce battle is said to be happening between Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna (SLPP) parliamentarians in order to obtain ministerial positions, according to internal government sources.
This group is said to be meeting the President and the Prime Minister periodically to obtain these positions and also trying to influence them through other parties.
The Cabinet is scheduled to be limited to 25, including the president and prime minister. However, already 13 Cabinet ministers out of the allotted 23 have been sworn in. The SLPP is scheduled to get around 10 ministerial slots, while five have already been sworn in.
While there are only another five slots allocated to the SLPP remaining, around 40 SLPP parliamentarians are vying for posts.
In addition to Dinesh Gunawardena and EPDP leader Douglas Devananda, the other parties are scheduled to appoint eleven cabinet ministers.
Nimal Siripala de Silva, Dr. Susil Prema Jayantha, Dr. Wijayadasa Rajapaksa, Harin Fernando, Manusha Nanayakkara, Nalin Fernando and Tiran Alles representing other political groups have already been sworn in as Ministers.
It is also said that the SLFP and the SJB have been allocated another one ministerial seat each.
The rest of the Cabinet and the State Ministers would be sworn in next week, according to sources. It is also reported that the number of state ministerial posts would be limited to around 30.
