Transportation & other service charges to go up
Minister of Power and Energy Kanchana Wijesekera says the Cabinet of Ministers has approved the revision of transportation and other service charges following the fuel price revision.
Minister Wijesekera noted that the formula will be applied every fortnight or monthly.
However, the Minister requested the transport sector to discuss the revision of rates and urged that they ensure transportation is not disrupted for students sitting the 2021 GCE Ordinary Level Examination.
Fuel prices were revised with effect from 3am today (24).
Accordingly, all forms of fuel have gone past Rs.400 for the first time in the country’s history.
Accordingly a litre of 92 Octane petrol has increased by Rs.82 to Rs.420 while a litre of 95 Octane petrol has increased by Rs.77 to Rs.450.
A litre of auto diesel has increased by Rs.111 to Rs.400 while a litre of super diesel has increased by Rs.116 to Rs.445.
Minister of Energy Kanchana Wijesekera confirmed the increase in Ceylon Petroleum Corporation prices.
The Minister said a fuel pricing formula was approved by the Cabinet of Ministers and was applied when revising prices.
Furthermore, Minister Kanchana Wijesekera said the public sector workforce will be called in for duty on the direction of the head of institutions from today (24).
He stated that work from home will be encouraged to minimise the use of fuel and to manage the energy crisis.
