Man arrested over killing of girl; Sarong with mud under the bed
Currently, two persons have been arrested over the murder of the 09-year-old girl from Atulugama, Bandaragama, it is reported.
The police had found a sarong with mud stains on it under the bed of one of the suspects who had been working in a field.
According to the police, the land adjoining the field where the man had been working is where the girl’s body had been found.
The postmortem examination on the murdered child Fathima Aisha was conducted at the Panadura Base Hospital yesterday (29).
Currently, the CID and five other police teams have launched investigations into the murder of the girl.
Investigators have also focused their attention on the CCTV footage in the area as well as drug addicts in the vicinity.
According to police sources, investigations are also being carried out into telephone signal towers in the area.
Fatima Aisha Akram, a girl from Atulugama, Bandaragama, had gone missing on the 27th while returning from a shop near her house to buy chicken.
The following afternoon, the girl's body was found in a swamp adjacent to the house, and statements were recorded from 30 people, including family members and neighbors.
