Vegetable prices skyrocket

It is reported that prices of vegetables could face a steep increase today (06) due to the low number of traders at the Dambulla Dedicated Economic Center.

According to reports, around 80% of traders coming to the centre to purchase and sell goods are absent.

It is singular that a kilo of tomatoes at the centre are priced at Rs. 600 while a kilo of beans is priced at Rs. 550. In addition, vegetables such as eggplant and bitter gourd are priced at Rs. 300.

It is also reported that the Dambulla centre is receiving less and less stocks of vegetables each day.
