East Terminal will not be given to Adani - Ports Minister

Minister of Ports, Nimal Siripala De Silva stated that allegations made by Port trade unions that the East Container Terminal will be given to multi-billionaire Indian businessman Gautam Adani is false.

Speaking at a press conference, he added that the East Container Terminal (ECT) will function as an enterprise run by the Sri Lanka Ports Authority.

However, there is a delay in payment of 39 Mn USD to a Chinese company which is manufacturing cranes needed for the ECT.
