Prasanna wants two weeks to reveal reason for Wijeweera’s death
Chief Government Whip Minister Prasanna Ranatunga asked for two weeks to answer a question raised by Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna Kalutara District MP Lalith Ellawala in Parliament today (22) regarding the mysterious death of former JVP leader Rohana Wijeweera 33 years ago.
Ellawala said that the arrest of former JVP leader Rohana Wijeweera by the then government on November 12, 1989 had been published in the media and asked if he knew that he had died the next day.
He also requested the minister to reveal if Wijeweera’s death was due to natural causes or whether it was murder.
These questions were posed to the Public Security Minister Tyran Alles but it was noteworthy that the questions were answered by the Chief Government Whip Prasanna Ranatunga.
