Attorney Upul Kumarapperuma warns police to act cautiously!

Attorney-at-Law Upul Kumarapperuma has stated that Senior DIG Deshabandu Tennakoonhad committed an offense under Sri Lanka’s Penal Code by not enforcing the law against the thugs who attacked the protesters in Myna-Go-Gama on May 09.

He points out that under Article 112 of the Penal Code it is a criminal offense for a person to neglect a duty assigned to him by law.

He also said that it is considered a criminal offence committed by DIG Deshabandu if he did not take action to prevent a crime.

Attorney-at-Law Upul Kumarapperuma further stated that they should act very cautiously and that the rights of the people of the country should not be compromised.

He made this statement at a media briefing held in Colombo.
