Bus ticket of Rs.4,000 for the first time!

For the first time in the history of transportation in Sri Lanka, a bus ticket worth more than Rs.4000 has been issued.

That is with the permission granted by the National Transport Commission to increase the luxury bus fare from Colombo to Kankasanturaya up to 4450.00 rupees.

Previously, in the history of transportation in this country, a bus ticket that exceeded 4000.00 rupees had not been issued. It is reported that the relevant bus services have already informed the authorities that it will be difficult to run the bus service at this fee.

It further states that the relevant bus companies and owners have made a request to reduce fares by providing a diesel subsidy.

Also, the Kataragama - Jaffna bus fare, which was the highest average fare until now at Rs. 2417/-, and has now been increased to Rs. 2948/- from the 01st of July, and is now close to Rs. 3000.00.
