Football official scams 50 million!
The Parliamentary Committee on Public Enterprises (COPE) has drawn special attention to an incident in which the ex-finance manager of the Sri Lanka Football Federation had defrauded a sum of nearly 50 million rupees during payments made to tournament referees.
The COPE Committee had inquired about this matter from the President of the Football Federation, he had said that the investigations had been handed over to the CID.
The COPE Committee had recently instructed the Sports Ministry Secretary to expedite the legal procedures regarding the incident.
Also, the COPE committee has asked him to submit a report on the institution's procurement plan immediately and the attention of the committee has also been focused on the fact that the Football Federation has not had a proper procurement plan since 2017.
