Ranjan Ramanayake to receive presidential pardon?

Reports state that Acting President Ranil Wickremesinghe has instructed the relevant officials to prepare the necessary legal documents to pardon former parliamentarian Ranjan Ramanayake, who is  serving a prison sentence on charges of contempt of court. 

Sources say that the Acting President has instructed Minister of Justice Wijeydasa Rajapaksa to look in to the matter, on a request made by parliamentarians Manusha Nanayakkara and Harin Fernando. 

The necessary legal documents have reportedly already been forwarded to the Chief Justice and Attorney General.
