Fuel shortage hampers process of electing president!
Many members of the government and the opposition have reportedly informed Speaker Mahinda Yapa Abeywardana that they will not participate in the parliamentary meetings in the coming days unless a formal program is not implemented to provide them fuel.
Majority of the parliamentarians who had complained to the speaker of their inability to attend parliament sittings are those from far out areas including the North and East.
However, as a result of the fuel crisis, many of the parliamentarians had reportedly not attended parliament sittings during the recent past.
It is also reported that as this week is a decisive week where a president is to be elected, the Speaker had notified the relevant officials to prepare an efficient mechanism to provide fuel to parliamentarians.
