Would Nagamuwa's struggle be over if someone other than Ranil was elected?

The Propaganda Secretary of the Frontline Socialist Party Duminda Nagamuwa said that they had proposed someone who will not run for the presidency again and who is not politically greedy for power.

When asked whether his party had identified anyone with those qualities, he said that there is no one like that.

“We don’t want to create such trust in anyone. We don’t want to or even have the right to name such a person and build public confidence in such a person. But what we have chosen from our side is that if any candidate wins after defeating Ranil Wickremesinghe, then a consensus government should be formed with him when an interim government is formed.

That is why we proposed a public commission.

We came to the conclusion that Ranil Wickremesinghe should be expelled while retaining the right to intervene in the governance through that power structure. The one who would be elected does not fully establish his power. The people's council that will be formed in the future can intervene in it.

When that happens, it moves with a balance of power. But you can't do that with Ranil. Ranil will come and trample this struggle.”

When journalist Suranga Indiaka asked Nagamuwa if he was sure that he would have the ability to implement the proposals mentioned if Dullas had become president Nagamuwa replied, “Our problem is not whether Dallas, Anura Kumara or anyone else is right. If someone other than Ranil comes, they will accept the political situation that came from this public struggle. But Ranil is coming to implement Mahinda Rajapaksa's political agenda against the people's struggle.”

Question - But Ranil Wickremesinghe said earlier that he will accept the People's Council presented by your party. So, are you not ready to take that as a positive response?

Answer - Generally speaking, accepting suggestions is not bad. But we know about Ranil Wickremesinghe. Therefore, Ranil Wickremesinghe will accept the People's Council after creating problems for the people in the struggle, divide the struggle into factions and create problems within. The Ranil we know is like that. So that acceptance is very suspicious.
