Sumanthiran reconsidering supporting the all-party government!

Although his party had decided to support the new all-party government under President Ranil Wickramasinghe, the Tamil National Alliance MP M.A. Sumanthiran had told "Desaya" newspaper that the attack on the Galle Face protesters on July 22 has made them reconsider their decision whether to support the government or not.

The MP said that he could not make a statement regarding the new government's actions right now and said that his party was not concerned about the people appointed to the new cabinet and that his party was only focused on how the new government would find solutions to the people's problems.

Sumanthiran said that he was concerned about the attack on the activists and expressed strong opposition to it, adding that he would have to think twice about supporting the government.

It was announced that the police and the security forces together took steps to evacuate the protesters who were in the presidential secretariat premises on 22nd morning from the premises and near its front entrance.

Nine people were arrested in that operation.

However, the Tamil National Alliance, which includes Sumanthiran, had decided not to support Ranil Wickremesinghe election to appoint a President.

However, it was reported from inside sources that except for a few MPs including Sumanthiran and Shanakyan Rasamanikkam, the rest had decided to vote for Ranil Wickremasinghe.

Political commentators are of the opinion that it is expressed by the results of the presidential election.

Meanwhile, Political commentators have also accused M.A. Sumanthiran of preferring the role of the opposition rather than taking on national responsibilities.

It is reported that the group of members of the Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna who supported Dullas Alahapperuma in the election of the President will work as a separate group in the Parliament in the future.

It is also said that the group includes about sixteen members of the Podujana Peramuna.

It is said that the group led by Dullas Alahapperuma will include Professor G. L. Peiris, Dr. Nalaka Godaheva, Professor Charita Herath, Professor Channa Jayasumana and the group ‘action according to their conscience’ of the Podujana Peramuna.

It is reported that this group is also focused on building a new political movement in the future.

A considerable number of MPs who were elected to parliament from the SLPP have now left the government and are working in parliament as an independent group.
