17 Galle Fort buildings may collapse – Governor

Governor of the Southern Province Keerthi Tenenkoon says around 17 or more buildings in the Galle fort are in danger of collapsing.

Speaking to media following an inspection of the Galle Fort, the Governor stated lavatory facilities must be provided for visitors to the Fort, adding waste management issues are also in need of resolution.

The Governor further stressed illegal construction and poorly maintained sites must also be addressed in order to once again return the Galle Fort to a location the public can enjoy visiting.
