Upcountry farmers from the frying pan into the fire!
The upcountry vegetable farmers lament that their crops have been destroyed as a result of the heavy rains and inclement weather.
As a result of the floods experienced in the low-lying areas and the areas adjacent to rivers and streams a large cultivation of leeks, potatoes, beetroot, salad leaves, capsicums, radish and many other vegetable cultivations have been destroyed.
The farmers lament that they have fallen from the frying pan into the fire as they have obtained bank loans by pawning their jewelry for their cultivation and now all their crops have been destroyed by the floods.
