'GotaGoHome' France activist arrested over May 9 violence when visiting Sri Lanka

The Nittambuwa Police has arrested an individual who was involved  in organizing demonstrations in Paris in solidarity with the 'GotaGoHome' protest campaign, in connection with the violent incidents on May 9.

Police said Arjuna Amadoru, a resident of France was arrested on Saturday by officers attached to Nittambuwa police station while he was visiting his family in Sri Lanka. 

An officer of the Nittambuwa Police said that despite some social media reports claimed that the suspect was arrested for being involved in the demonstration in France, he was arrested for the violent incidents in Nittambuwa on May 9 this year.

They said the suspect was in Sri Lanka during the violence and had left for France. He was arrested when visiting Sri Lanka on Saturday.

He would be produced in court, police said.
