Sri Lanka passes Social Security Levy Bill, while 123 MPs were not present during vote

The Social Security Contribution Levy Bill passed in Parliament on Thursday (8).

The bill was passed by a majority vote, as 123 Members of Parliament were NOT present in the chamber when the vote was taken up.

Votes in Favor: 91

Votes Against: 10

MPs Lakshman Kiriella, Anith Mannapperuma, Ashok Abeysinghe, Anura Dissanayake, Vijitha Herath, Harini Amarasuriya, Vasudeva Nanayakkara, Weerasumana Weerasinghe, Charitha Herath, and Dilan Perera voted against it.

A decision was taken to debate the Social Security Contribution Levy Bill on Thursday (08), after the debate was postponed on Tueday (6) following objections raised by the opposition.
