Education free from burden of exams for children in future: Edu. Minister
Education Minister Susil Premajayantha said that he is working hard to free the children from years of continuous memorization of subject knowledge and the stress of facing exams.
While participating at the prize and award ceremony held for the winners of the annual National Mathematics Competition at the Colombo University, the Minister said that the existing examination pattern should be changed through an educational transformation that goes beyond educational reforms.
He mentioned that the courses should be technically innovated and updated so that universities become a haven "This transformative change should take place from pre-school through the school classroom.
The Minister said the more space there is for observation of the environment in pre-school, the more children have the opportunity to engage in exploratory independent education by asking questions and pursuing knowledge sources in the classroom.
The Minister added that in the past knowledge of this country, this creative technical knowledge has been used in practice to create creations like Ruwanwelisaya and all these should be included in the education system of our country through observation and research.
