Ex-Embassy Official arrested in Sex Trafficking !
The Former 3rd Secretary of the Sri Lankan Embassy in Oman E. Kushan was arrested on Tuesday (29) morning by the Criminal Investigations Department at the BIA upon arrival.
He reached Sri Lanka aboard flight from Muscat, Oman.
The Former 3rd Secretary of the Sri Lankan Embassy in Oman faces allegations of sexual misconduct towards Sri Lankan women stranded in Oman, and held at the embassy safe-house.
Sources said that detectives from the CID are interrogating the suspect at the Bandaranaike International Airport.
Multiple Sri Lankan women who are currently held at the safe-house operated by the Sri Lankan Embassy in Oman allege that the suspect made unwanted sexual advances towards them, and also threatened them of a longer stay in Oman, without sending them back home.
Most of these women had traveled to Abu Dhabi on visit visa, and thereafter were trafficked to Oman where they were auctioned for sex.
