Father in Vavuniya commits suicide after killing family

In yet another incident of the head of family committing suicide, a family of four were found dead in Vavuniya today with police suspecting that the two children may have been poisoned.

Police said the bodies of the parents and their two children was recovered from their home this morning by Vavuniya police.

Initial investigations have revealed that the father had committed suicide by hanging himself after poisoning his wife and two children. 

The body of the mother was lying on a bed while the bodies of of the two girls were lying on chairs.

The deceased were identified as Sivapadasundaram (41), Kousigan Maradananji (36) Kaushigan Maitra (09) and Kaushigan Keshara (03).

The preliminary magisterial inquiry will be held later today. 

Vavuniya police are conducting further investigations.
