Three years rigorous imprisonment for stealing commode

A suspect who stood charged with stealing a toilet commode and retaining the stolen goods was sentenced to three years rigorous imprisonment and fined Rs. 3,000 by Galle Chief Magistrate Isuru Nettikumara.

The suspect was sentenced to six more months' imprisonment for failing to pay the fine.

The suspect, Thommadura Sudeah Pushpakumara (37), is a resident of Ratgama.

Police told the court that the suspect had stolen the commode used in a home for the elderly in Ratgama, which had been dismantled to be fitted in another location.
