Rubber bullets & gas masks brought to Colombo from 12 police divisions!
A stock of gas masks, anti-riot shields, helmets and rubber bullets, which were under the custody of 12 police divisions across the country, have been taken into custody of the Central Weaponry in Colombo to be used during the protests in the Western Province.
Assistant Services SDIG Sajeewa Medawatta had given the order to the SSPs in charge of the 12 Divisions yesterday.
Accordingly, 575 gas masks, 450 anti-riot shields, 505 anti-riot helmets and 1,050 rubber bullets were brought to the Central Weaponry yesterday.
It was said that these anti-riot equipment have been brought on the service requirement to be used to control the demonstrations which are being held in Colombo causing inconvenience to the public.
The anti-riot equipment were brought from the police warehouses in Anuradhapura, Batticaloa, Elpitiya, Kurunegala, Matale, Polonnaruwa, Tangalle, Kandy, Kantale, Nuwara Eliya, Puttalam and Trincomalee Divisions.
