A man who had hooted at Transport Minister Bandula Gunawardane, who was participating at an event close to the Pitipana Junction, Homagama has been arrested by the police.

The Minister had participated in a ceremony to lay the foundation stone for a Buddhist shrine when a man who was passing by in a lorry had hooted at the crowd and sped away.

The police, who acted swiftly, had chased after the lorry and arrested the suspect.

The suspect is identified as a 43-year-old businessman in Pitipana North in Homagama.

He is to be produced in court for obstructing a religious ceremony and challenging the right of practicing a religion.
