Permission not granted to increase wheat flour prices - CAA

The Consumer Affairs Authority (CAA) says that no permission has been granted to increase the price of wheat flour.

The CAA Chairman - Major General (Retd.) Shantha Dissanayake says that the CAA has launched an island-wide operation to find those selling wheat flour at higher prices.

Prima had recently announced that it had increased the price of wheat flour by Rs. 12 per kilo.

Responding, Chairman of the National Movement for Consumer Rights Protection - Ranjith Vithanage had also pointed out that doing so sans CAA approval, is illegal.
