Ajith Nivad Cabraal to be Central Bank Governor leaving his ministerial post

Reports say that State Minister for Money Ajith Nivaard Cabraal is to resign from his cabinet and national list ministerial posts. This is in preparation to step in as the Central Bank Governor. Banking sources say the present CB Governor Prof. W.D. Lakshman is scheduled to be appointed to a high ranking post at the International Monetary Fund.

Reports further state that the Government has already been informed that Minister Cabraal will be stepping down from his posts, upon the resignation of the CB Governor.
