Three-wheelers to abide 39 regulations : Changing colours not allowed
The State Ministry for Transport has introduced 39 regulations regarding modifications allowed for three-wheelers.
State Minister Dilum Amungama stated that the Police has the authority to take legal action against those not abiding by these regulations.
The new regulations stipulate that the height, width, length, shape, structure, appearance and colour cannot be changed.
Three-wheelers that are meant for passenger transport cannot be changed for other activities, for example selling bakery products.
Changing engines too is prohibited.
Reports say the three-wheeler modifications will not be permitted in the future, except with the written permission of the Motor Vehicles Commissioner General.
