Youngest son arrested over father’s murder four years ago - Gulamhusein Investigation

Sri Lanka’s Criminal Investigations Department on Saturday (11) arrested the youngest son of deceased businessman Shabbir Abbas Gulamhusein, over his father’s murder four years ago.

Sri Lanka Police said that on the 09th of June 2017 Shabbir Abbas Gulamhusein passed away inside his office premises in Colombo, and a complaint was received on the 16th of August 2018 stating that the death was suspicious.

Following a lengthy investigation, it was revealed that Shabbir Abbas Gulamhusein had not died of natural causes, but had been murdered by strangulation, said Sri Lanka Police.

Thereafter, the CID has arrested the 37-year-old youngest son of the businessman in connection with the murder.

It was revealed that the murder was subtly planned and the funeral arrangements were made to look like a natural death by the youngest son.

The suspect, a resident of Ethul Kotte was produced before the Colombo Chief Magistrate’s Court and was remanded till September 23rd.

Shabbir Abbas Gulamhusein was the owner of 9 companies including AdamExpo Ltd.
