Don’t open school till 2 weeks after students are vaccinated - Dr. Jayantha
All Ceylon Medical Officers Association Chief Secretary Dr. Jayantha Bandara has requested that schools be opened two weeks after the vaccination of students takes place.
While there are 4.5 Mn school children, education authorities are planning to reopen schools with less than 200 students, he stated.
He added that prior to opening these schools, students who are given the Pfizer vaccine should be allowed to develop immunity.
He further stated that to prevent clusters such as the Brandix, Peliyagoda Fish Market and New Year, the country should be gradually opened up, in stages.
He added that the number of PCR and Antigen tests have reduced in the past few days and that they should be increased to spot the spread.
