Evidence against Karannagoda is with Bachelet
Journalist Keerthi Warnakulasuriya revealed that evidence against former navy commander Wasantha Karannagoda gathered by the Criminal Investigations Department, is now with the UN Human Rights Commissioner Michelle Bachelet.
In an article in Divaina he further stated that this includes evidence of witnesses as well as the Court B report as well.
He went on to report that a secret statement provided by former navy commander Travis Sinnaih is also with the Human Rights Commissioner and that these were handed over by an officer of the CID.
Warnakulasuriya’s revelation comes in the backdrop of Senior State Counsel Janaka Bandara stating before a 3-member High court judge panel that they do not seek to take forward the case against former navy commander Wasanatha Karannagoda who is accused of abducting 11 youth from Colombo and suburban areas.
Further, since a writ application has been filed by Karannagoda at the Court of Appeal, an injunction order has been filed to prevent the case from going forward.
